Model of Advocacy
The advocacy support for vulnerable adults is an “instructed” service:
- It supports people to express themselves and have a stronger voice.
- It is independent of service providers
- It acts on the “instruction” of vulnerable adults, not in their best interests
- It “channels” people’s views rather than filtering them out.
- It aims to support and empower people towards self-advocacy
- It provides a confidential service to vulnerable adults
- It supports people to resolve issues at the lowest level
Individuals who do not have capacity
For people, who are assessed as lacking capacity and where they fit the criteria, referrals will be signposted to the Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA) Service delivered by Advocacy Experience in Bury
